FAQ

Where do the dogs come from?

The dogs are fostered by our Cypriot animal welfare organization. It has been based in Cyprus for over 10 years and has already been able to place many dogs in Germany. The puppies are either delivered directly to you or found on the street and brought to the animal welfare organization.

Are the puppies healthy?

As soon as the dogs are handed in to the animal welfare organization, they are immediately examined in detail. If the dogs are ill, treatment is started. In addition, all dogs are dewormed and vaccinated as standard. All puppies that move into our retreat are of course dewormed and vaccinated and have no communicable diseases. If a dog has a handicap or e.g. leishmaniasis, this will of course be communicated.

Can I come to the retreat even if I don’t want to adopt a dog?

Of course. Our dogs are happy about every loving attention and of course it would be best if every dog could find a new basket right away. However, the retreat is also specially created for dog lovers who, for various reasons, cannot keep a dog but would simply like to spend a week with dogs. The dogs are really grateful for every petting session, play session or walk. You can often still follow on Instagram what has become of the puppies, which home they have come to and what their new life in the family looks like.

How does the adoption process work?

As we receive the dogs in foster care from the animal welfare organization, they also take care of the adoption process. They also decide whether the new owner can offer the dog the opportunities it needs. If you are approved by the animal welfare organization and all the papers for the dog are ready, you can leave directly with the dog. Many airlines allow you to check the dog in as “extra baggage”. Depending on its size, it may also be able to travel in the cabin. Please note that some airlines, such as Ryanair, unfortunately do not transport animals.

What happens to the puppies when they grow up?

Fortunately, they will already be in their new families. Fortunately, the retreat gives the dogs a very good chance of finding a new home. The dogs are also placed through the animal welfare organization. If, for whatever reason, a dog is overlooked for adoption, it will stay at our retreat until it has found its new home. We at Puppy Yoga Retreat love our dogs and would love to keep them ourselves. Nevertheless, there is nothing better than giving a dog a new permanent home with its own basket.
