April \u2013 Spring Arrives in Cyprus<\/h2><\/header>\n<div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>Spring in Cyprus feels very different from spring in much of northern Europe.<\/p><p>While many places are still waiting for winter to properly disappear, Cyprus is already becoming greener, brighter and warmer.<\/p><p>This is a beautiful time for anyone who wants their yoga retreat to include plenty of exploring.<\/p><p>The landscape is still green after the winter rains, flowers appear across the countryside and temperatures are generally much more comfortable for walking and hiking than during the hottest part of summer.<\/p><p>For a retreat, that creates a lovely balance.<\/p><p>You can practise yoga outdoors when conditions allow, spend afternoons exploring the Paphos region and enjoy sunshine without feeling that your day needs to revolve around avoiding the midday heat.<\/p><p>It is also a wonderful season if you are not someone who needs beach weather every single day.<\/p><p>The island feels calm.<\/p><p>The air feels fresh.<\/p><p>And there is something particularly peaceful about Cyprus before the summer season fully begins.<\/p><\/div>\n<figure class=\"pyr-photo-single\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Spring landscape near Paphos Cyprus\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyyogaretreats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_4878_2-scaled.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<div class=\"pyr-season-tips\">\n<h3>What to Do Around Paphos in Spring<\/h3>\n<p>Spring is probably the season when it is hardest to stay at the villa all afternoon \u2014 simply because the landscape around Paphos is so beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>This is the perfect time to explore the <strong>Akamas Peninsula<\/strong>, when the countryside is still green and wildflowers appear across the landscape.<\/p>\n<p>If you enjoy hiking, the <strong>Aphrodite Nature Trail<\/strong>, <strong>Adonis Nature Trail<\/strong> and <strong>Pissouromoutti Trail<\/strong> offer beautiful views across Akamas and the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p>Closer to Peyia, <strong>Avakas Gorge<\/strong> is another impressive option. The trail leads through a dramatic limestone gorge and is especially beautiful when temperatures are mild.<\/p>\n<p>After heavy rain, however, conditions inside the gorge can become slippery and there can be a risk of falling rocks, so it is always worth checking conditions before setting off.<\/p>\n<p>For something less active, you can drive along the coast towards the <strong>Sea Caves and Agios Georgios in Peyia<\/strong>, stop for a coffee and stay for one of the beautiful sunsets over the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p>A spring retreat day could therefore look something like this:<\/p>\n<p>Morning yoga. Brunch. A few hours hiking in Akamas. Back to the villa for a shower and a little rest. August \u2013 Is Cyprus Too Hot for a Yoga Retreat?<\/h2><\/header>\n<div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>Let\u2019s talk about summer.<\/p><p>July and August are the hottest months in Cyprus.<\/p><p>There is no point pretending otherwise.<\/p><p>But there is also a difference between saying <strong>\u201cCyprus is hot in August\u201d<\/strong> and saying <strong>\u201cit is too hot to enjoy a yoga retreat.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><p>Those are not the same thing.<\/p><p>Here in Peyia, our experience has actually been much more comfortable than many people expect.<\/p><p>We are located above the Paphos coastline, and on most days we have at least a light breeze.<\/p><p>That makes a noticeable difference.<\/p><p>We also adapt our yoga practice to the season rather than trying to fight the weather.<\/p><p>On summer mornings, we find a beautiful shady place on our rooftop terrace and practise before the strongest heat of the day arrives.<\/p><p>And even in August, we have generally found yoga completely manageable.<\/p><p>You don\u2019t need to practise in direct midday sunshine to enjoy outdoor yoga in Cyprus.<\/p><p>You simply need to work with the climate rather than against it.<\/p><\/div>\n<figure class=\"pyr-photo-single\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Tourists enjoy a beach bar in Peyia Cyprus during summer\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyyogaretreats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_3087-scaled.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/figure><div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>The rest of the day naturally takes on a Mediterranean rhythm.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"pyr-rhythm\"><p>Morning yoga.<\/p><p>A long brunch.<\/p><p>Pool.<\/p><p>Shade.<\/p><p>A nap.<\/p><p>Perhaps a trip to the sea.<\/p><p>Time with the puppies.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>And then life starts moving again later in the afternoon when the strongest heat begins to fade.<\/p><p>There is something surprisingly nice about being forced to slow down in the middle of the day.<\/p><p>Nobody feels guilty about lying beside the pool when it is 2 p.m. in Cyprus.<\/p><p>It is practically a cultural requirement.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"pyr-season-tips\">\n<h3>What to Do Around Paphos in July &amp; August<\/h3>\n<p>Summer afternoons naturally revolve a little more around water.<\/p>\n<p>And fortunately, there is plenty of it.<\/p>\n<p>An easy option is <strong>Coral Bay<\/strong>, where you can swim for a couple of hours and be back at the retreat without spending most of your day travelling.<\/p>\n<p>For a bigger excursion, head towards <strong>Latchi and the Blue Lagoon<\/strong> for a boat trip and swimming in Akamas.<\/p>\n<p>Snorkelling and diving are also particularly appealing during the warmer months, and the coastline between Coral Bay and Agios Georgios has several interesting underwater areas.<\/p>\n<p>Summer is also the season when it makes sense to save cultural sightseeing for the cooler parts of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of walking around archaeological ruins at 2 p.m., visit <strong>Paphos Harbour<\/strong>, the <strong>Medieval Castle<\/strong> or the Archaeological Park in the morning or towards the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>The Lara\u2013Toxeftra area of Akamas is also an important nesting area for green and loggerhead turtles. October<\/h3>\n<p>September and October are wonderful months for combining swimming with exploring.<\/p>\n<p>The Mediterranean is still warm, so <strong>Coral Bay<\/strong>, Latchi and the <strong>Blue Lagoon<\/strong> remain excellent options.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, walking and sightseeing gradually become more comfortable again.<\/p>\n<p>This is a lovely time to return to the <strong>Akamas nature trails<\/strong>, visit the <strong>Tombs of the Kings<\/strong>, explore the mosaics inside the <strong>Pafos Archaeological Park<\/strong>, or spend a few hours wandering around <strong>Paphos Old Town<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Autumn is also a particularly nice time to discover the villages inland from Peyia.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Laona\u2013Akamas Wine Route<\/strong> passes through villages including <strong>Kathikas, Arodes, Ineia and Drouseia<\/strong> before continuing towards Polis and Pegeia.<\/p>\n<p>Kathikas alone makes a lovely relaxed afternoon: walk through the village, have lunch in a traditional taverna and visit one of the local wineries.<\/p>\n<p>It is a completely different side of Cyprus from the beaches \u2014 and one that many visitors would otherwise never see.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"pyr-photo-single\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Hanging grapevine and sea views in the Paphos region of Cyprus\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyyogaretreats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_2970-scaled.jpg\" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"pyr-photo-credit\">\n<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"pyr-chapter pyr-chapter--cream\">\n<header class=\"pyr-chapter-header\"><h2>November \u2013 A Quieter Side of Cyprus<\/h2><\/header>\n<div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>November is when Cyprus begins to transition towards winter.<\/p><p>But if you are arriving from Germany, Austria, the UK or another part of northern Europe, the word \u201cwinter\u201d can be slightly misleading.<\/p><p>There can still be beautifully mild and sunny days.<\/p><p>The difference is that you should no longer expect guaranteed summer weather every day.<\/p><p>And that is precisely why some people love this time of year.<\/p><p>The island becomes much quieter.<\/p><p>Exploring becomes easier.<\/p><p>Long walks are more appealing.<\/p><p>And retreat life feels a little more cosy.<\/p><p>Instead of structuring the day around swimming and the pool, you may find yourself spending more time practising yoga, reading, exploring the coast or sitting with a coffee and a puppy on your lap.<\/p><p>Not a terrible alternative.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"pyr-season-tips\">\n<h3>What to Do Around Paphos in November<\/h3>\n<p>November is ideal for the places that can feel a little too exposed during the hottest summer months.<\/p>\n<p>This is a perfect time for the <strong>Tombs of the Kings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The UNESCO-listed necropolis is almost entirely outdoors, and without the intense summer sun you can actually take your time walking through the rock-cut chambers and underground courtyards.<\/p>\n<p>You can easily combine it with the nearby <strong>Pafos Archaeological Park<\/strong>, where you can see the famous Roman mosaics, Odeon, Agora and ruins stretching along the coast.<\/p>\n<p>Another lovely option is <strong>Paphos Old Town<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Walk through the market area, browse small shops and workshops, stop for coffee and simply spend a few hours exploring without needing a fixed itinerary.<\/p>\n<p>Or head inland towards <strong>Kathikas and the Paphos wine villages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When beach weather becomes less predictable, long lunches and wine tasting suddenly become an extremely attractive alternative.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"pyr-photo-single\"><img decoding=\"async\" &lt;=\"\" alt=\"Purple flowers in quiet Paphos region\" section=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/puppyyogaretreats.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_2982-scaled.jpg\" title=\"\">\n<section class=\"pyr-chapter\">\n<header class=\"pyr-chapter-header\"><h2>December to February \u2013 Can You Do a Yoga Retreat in Cyprus in Winter?<\/h2><\/header>\n<div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>Yes.<\/p><p>But it is a different experience.<\/p><p>Winter is the rainy season in Cyprus, and temperatures are cooler.<\/p><p>You should not book a January retreat expecting the same holiday you would have in July.<\/p><p>At the same time, winter in Cyprus can be surprisingly beautiful.<\/p><p>On sunny days, even January and February can feel almost like spring during the daytime. Sitting outside in the sunshine can be wonderfully warm, and there are days when you almost forget that it is winter at all.<\/p><p>The important thing to know is that evenings and indoor temperatures can feel much cooler.<\/p><p>Homes in Cyprus are generally not heated in quite the same way as houses in colder northern-European countries, so warm clothes are essential.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"pyr-rhythm\"><p>Bring a jumper.<\/p><p>Bring warm socks.<\/p><p>And definitely bring slippers for the villa.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>You will be very happy you did.<\/p><p>There will also be stormy days from time to time.<\/p><p>But even those have their own charm.<\/p><p>There is something very cosy about hearing the wind outside while practising yoga indoors, drinking something warm and spending a quiet afternoon in the villa.<\/p><p>And the puppies seem to appreciate cuddle season even more than usual.<\/p><p>When the weather turns cooler, a warm lap suddenly becomes an extremely valuable piece of real estate.<\/p><p>For someone who wants to withdraw from everyday life, practise yoga and genuinely slow down, winter can therefore work beautifully.<\/p><p>The emphasis simply shifts.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"pyr-rhythm\"><p>Less: Pool. Beach. Full summer.<\/p><p>More: Yoga. Rest. Nature. Reading. Long conversations. Warm socks. Puppies. Cuddles.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>And sometimes that is exactly the kind of retreat someone needs.<\/p><\/div><figure class=\"pyr-photo-single\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Cosy winter start with the <strong>Tombs of the Kings<\/strong> or the <strong>Pafos Archaeological Park<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The temperature can feel almost spring-like in the sunshine, and walking around these large archaeological sites is much more pleasant than under the intense summer sun.<\/p>\n<p>From there, continue to <strong>Paphos Harbour<\/strong>, walk along the waterfront and visit the <strong>Medieval Castle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another beautiful excursion is the <strong>Agios Neophytos Monastery<\/strong>, set in the hills outside Paphos.<\/p>\n<p>And winter is also a good time to explore the traditional villages and wineries inland from the coast.<\/p>\n<p>If the weather becomes stormy, simply change the plan.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the <strong>Pafos Archaeological Museum<\/strong>, explore <strong>Paphos Old Town<\/strong>, find a cosy caf\u00e9 or return to the villa earlier than planned.<\/p>\n<p>Because a rainy retreat afternoon does not necessarily need fixing.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it simply means tea, warm socks, a book and a puppy who suddenly decides that your lap is the best place in the entire villa.<\/p>\n<p>And that can be a pretty good day summer and autumn are the safest choices.<\/p><p>The sea warms throughout the summer and stays beautifully warm well into autumn.<\/p><p>September in particular can feel almost perfect.<\/p><p>The intense midsummer heat begins to ease while the sea still carries all the warmth it has collected over the previous months.<\/p><p>June, July, August, September and October are therefore particularly class=\"pyr-chapter-header\"><h2>When Is the Best Time for Hiking and Exploring?<\/h2><\/header>\n<div class=\"pyr-read\"><p>For exploring Cyprus, spring and autumn are generally more comfortable than
