Christmas is supposed to be the time of year when everyone goes home. But real life doesn't always look like that.
Maybe your family lives far away. Maybe Christmas has become complicated. Maybe you're single and everyone around you seems to disappear into their own family celebrations. Or perhaps you simply want these days to feel different this year.
You don't have to spend Christmas alone.
And you don't have to recreate somebody else's idea of the perfect Christmas either.
What if Christmas this year meant waking up in Cyprus, starting the morning with yoga, sharing good food with new people – and spending part of the day with rescue puppies who are simply very happy you're there?
Come Alone – Without Spending Christmas Alone
You don't need a partner, friend or family member to join our Christmas yoga retreat in Cyprus.
Solo travellers are very welcome.
A retreat creates natural opportunities to connect. There is yoga together, shared meals, time with the puppies and other people around who have also chosen to spend Christmas somewhere different.
But that doesn't mean you need to be social all day.
There is also time to read, journal, rest, go for a walk or simply enjoy having some space to yourself.
You can arrive alone and still have people around the table on Christmas Day.

Give a Little Love Back This Christmas
For us, this is what makes Christmas at Puppy Yoga Retreat Cyprus particularly special.
Our rescue puppies don't know that it's Christmas.
They don't understand presents, Christmas trees or why December 25th should be different from any other day.
They still want breakfast.
They still want to play.
And they will probably still expect you to throw the same toy far more times than seems reasonable.
But they understand kindness.
They understand a gentle hand, attention, affection and someone choosing to spend time with them.
Many of the puppies we foster have experienced uncertainty early in their lives. Some arrive confident and curious. Others need more time to learn that people and new situations can be safe.
There is something very special about spending a day that's supposed to be about love by giving some of that love to little beings who genuinely appreciate it.
Maybe a puppy climbs into your lap and falls asleep.
Maybe a shy one decides that you're someone they would like to come a little closer to.
Maybe your greatest achievement of Christmas Day is entertaining one very enthusiastic puppy with the same toy for half an hour.
The puppies don't care whether you arrived alone.
They don't care what your family situation looks like.
They're simply happy that you're there.
Sometimes Christmas can be about more than receiving love. It can also be about choosing where you want to give it.

What Could Christmas at Puppy Yoga Retreat Cyprus Look Like?
Christmas here doesn't need a packed schedule.
You might start the day with yoga before sitting down for a relaxed vegetarian brunch.
There is time to spend with the puppies, talk to other guests or simply enjoy being somewhere completely different from home.
If Cyprus gives us a beautiful sunny winter day, you might spend part of the afternoon outside or head towards the coast for a walk.
And if the weather turns windy or rainy, the plan can become much simpler.
Make some tea. Pick up a book. Write in your journal. Spend a little more time with the puppies or simply rest.
Later, there is good food, conversation and a slower evening – perhaps with Yin yoga, restorative yoga or meditation.
No rushing between family visits. No need for everything to be perfect.
Just yoga, food, people, animals and time.
A Christmas With a Little More Space
The holidays can carry a surprising amount of expectation.
Spending them somewhere new can create the opportunity to step away from that for a while.
December is also a natural time to look back at the year.
What made you happy? What took too much of your energy? What do you want more of? What are you ready to leave behind?
You don't need a complicated workshop to think about those questions.
Sometimes a notebook, a quiet afternoon and enough distance from your normal routine are all you need.
And sometimes you don't need to reflect at all.
A nap and a puppy cuddle are perfectly acceptable Christmas plans too.

And What About New Year's Eve?
New Year's Eve doesn't have to mean a huge party or a crowded nightclub either.
The last days of December can be a chance to slow down, think about what you want to carry into the next year and simply enjoy being away from your normal routine.
Yoga, good food, journaling, the Mediterranean and plenty of puppy company make for a very different way to finish the year.
And waking up on January 1st feeling rested, with yoga ahead of you and rescue puppies waiting for breakfast, isn't a bad way to begin a new one.
What Is Cyprus Like at Christmas?
December in Paphos is mild compared with much of northern Europe, but it is winter.
There can be beautiful sunny days for hiking and coastal walks as well as cooler, windy or rainy days.
Warm clothes are important, particularly in the evenings and indoors, as many buildings in Cyprus aren't insulated or heated in quite the same way visitors from northern Europe may be used to.

Is This Christmas Retreat Right for You?
This kind of Christmas may be particularly lovely if you:
- are travelling alone
- would like to spend Christmas differently this year
- love animals and rescue dogs
- enjoy yoga or would like to try it
- want company without having to be social every minute
- would like some time to slow down and reflect
- prefer connection and experiences over a traditional Christmas schedule
You don't need to arrive looking for a life-changing experience.
You can simply come because yoga, good food, Mediterranean views, new people and rescue puppies sound like a lovely way to spend Christmas.
That's reason enough.
Christmas Doesn't Have to Look Like Everyone Else's
Maybe this year Christmas doesn't have to mean going home.
Maybe it can mean going somewhere new.
Somewhere you can arrive alone without having to spend the holidays alone.
Somewhere the day begins with yoga, there's food around a shared table and a little rescue puppy who doesn't know it's Christmas – but knows that you've chosen to sit beside them.
Sometimes warmth comes from the people we've known all our lives.
And sometimes, for a few days, it comes from the people and animals we meet along the way.
It may not be a traditional Christmas.
But it could be a Christmas you remember for a very long time.
