Paphos in October: Weather, Swimming & What It Really Feels Like

Paphos in October with sunshine and Mediterranean sea

If you're wondering what Paphos in October really feels like, think warm Mediterranean days, a sea that still holds the heat of summer and slightly fresher evenings.

Here in Peyia, October still feels very much like outdoor-living season. Days are usually warm enough for summer clothes, swimming and time by the pool, while the slightly softer temperatures are also lovely for walking, yoga and exploring.

It's one of those months where you can easily combine both sides of a Cyprus holiday: doing plenty – or doing very little.

What Does Paphos Feel Like in October?

During the day, October usually still feels wonderfully warm.

Shorts, dresses, T-shirts and sandals are very much part of everyday life, and a sunny afternoon can easily be spent at the beach or beside the pool.

The beginning of the month often feels a little more summery, while towards the end of October you may notice the evenings becoming fresher.

In Peyia, where we're slightly elevated, a light breeze is common and evenings can feel noticeably cooler once the sun has disappeared. A cardigan or light sweatshirt is usually all you need.

The nice thing is the variety: warm sunshine during the day and a slightly fresher feeling later in the evening.

Can You Swim in Paphos in October?

Yes – October is still a lovely month for swimming.

The Mediterranean has been warming throughout the summer and cools much more slowly than the air. Around Paphos, the average sea temperature in October is still approximately 25°C.

That means beach days and swimming can remain a completely normal part of an October holiday.

For us, that's one of the nicest things about this time of year: you don't have to choose between a beach holiday and a more active trip.

You can have both.

What About Rain?

October is the point where an occasional rainy day becomes possible again after the very dry summer months.

On average, Paphos sees only around 3–4 days with measurable rain during October, so a rainy week is certainly not what you should automatically expect.

Some October weeks are completely sunny; others may include a shower or a more unsettled day.

As with any holiday, the actual weather varies from year to year, so checking the forecast shortly before travelling is more useful than trying to predict one particular week months in advance.

A Lovely Month for Exploring

October is particularly nice if you want to see a little more of western Cyprus rather than spend every day in the same place.

The weather works beautifully for coastal walks and longer outdoor days.

One option is the Adonis Trail in Akamas, where you can spend a few hours surrounded by Mediterranean nature, turquoise sea views and peaceful countryside.

For something much easier, we love the coastline around the EDRO III Shipwreck and Sea Caves. It's perfect for a relaxed walk later in the afternoon, followed by a drink or sunset by the sea.

October gives you plenty of flexibility to decide spontaneously what kind of day you feel like having.

What to Pack for Paphos in October

Packing for October is fairly simple: bring summer clothes and add a couple of light layers.

  • shorts, skirts and light dresses
  • T-shirts and tops
  • swimwear
  • sandals
  • comfortable trainers

If you're planning to hike, trainers with good grip or hiking shoes are worth bringing too.

Why October Works So Well for a Yoga Retreat

October has a lovely rhythm for a yoga holiday.

Morning yoga still has that warm Mediterranean feeling, while the evenings can feel a little fresher and especially peaceful for Yin, restorative yoga or meditation.

The middle of the day is completely yours.

You might spend it by the pool, go swimming, explore the coast, head out for a hike or simply stay at the villa with a book and one of our rescue puppies nearby.

That's really what we like about October: it gives you options.

You can have an active day outdoors or a wonderfully lazy one – and both feel equally right.

Is Paphos Worth Visiting in October?

Absolutely.

If you're hoping for warm days, swimming, sunshine and Mediterranean outdoor living, October still offers plenty of all four.

It doesn't feel as though summer has suddenly disappeared.

It simply feels like Cyprus gently moving into its next season.
